Our Top Picks on Where to Stay in Melbourne during PPL
So, you’re coming to Piano Pivot Live 2020! We can’t wait to see you on Thursday, 23 January. But you might be wondering about the best places to stay in Melbourne for the conference, which we’ll explore in this article.
Rydges Melbourne, in the heart of the CBD
Rydges Melbourne- the Official Hotel of Piano Pivot Live Conference
Obviously, we’d love as many teachers as possible to stay with us at Rydges.Â
After a busy day of learning and connecting with other teachers, you can relax immediately in your stylish hotel room and skip the travel back to off-site lodging destination. You can also join us for an extra drink and maybe even dinner, if you’d like, on the first night.Â
Rydges is a four-star deluxe hotel located in Melbourne’s CBD — the bustling central business district. It is well-placed in the heart of the Theatre precinct on Exhibition street and closely situated to boutiques on Collins Street, the Chinatown district, and enjoyable walking/running routes.
Queen room – Rydges
The hotel features modern rooms with Rydges signature Dream Beds, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs. In addition, you’ll enjoy access to a heated rooftop pool, Genesis gym, and a restaurant. The Locanda Italian Steakhouse Restaurant and Bar is a classy spot for upscale drinks or healthy eating options.
Further, the best thing is that your room rate includes breakfast! You won’t even need to leave the hotel in the morning.
Current Rydges room rates start at AU$561 per night. However, we’ve locked in a discounted price of just AU$290.
That’s US$199 and includes breakfast.Â
To take advantage of this discount room rate, see the email you will have received after purchasing your tickets.Â
If, for some reason, you didn’t receive an email, please contact us at support@timtopham.com, and we’ll get you the details.Â
One word of caution: act quickly to secure your Rydges room. Our special room rates are only available through December 22, 2019!
Other Piano Pivot Live Accommodation Options
As the conference date approaches, lodging in Melbourne will be increasingly harder to find due to the Australian Open happening simultaneously. Therefore, here are some alternate options as you consider the best places to stay in Melbourne.
Hotels
We’ve curated links to some of these options on the PPL website:Â
Alternate Hotel options for your Melbourne trip
PPL conference is located in the heart of Melbourne and close to all public transport links. Consequently, this also facilitates easy commuting if you prefer the quiet of surrounding areas in greater Melbourne. Therefore, here are some other ideas for where to stay in the greater area.
AirBnB
AirBnb provides hotel alternatives that appeal to those wanting a unique, home-like experience. Further, a variety of budget-friendly price points are generally available.
AirBnb hosts offer everything from single rooms to entire flats. Hence, if you’re planning an extended stay in Melbourne, this could double easily as a vacation hub. (Look for some Melbourne-area travel tips coming soon!)
Apartments
Another accommodation option is Quest Serviced Apartments, one of the bigger apartment chains in Melbourne. Most Quest apartments include Wi-Fi, kitchenettes, and fridges, or dining options to purchase separately.
Quest Apartments Nearest the Conference:
Lonsdale Quest, an alternate option nearby
Quest on Lonsdale is walkable to the Exhibition St. conference location.
Available Room Types: Studio, 1-room Apt, 2-room Apts. Prices are starting at $273AUD.
Apartments – Greater Melbourne areas:
Melbourne has excellent public transportation and is very walkable. Try QuestApartments.com or Punthill.com for other neighborhoods.
For example, you could stay where I live in Richmond, which is actually within walking distance of the city.Â
Or a little further out East in Kew and Hawthorn are beautiful areas with lots of houses and services apartments.Â
Wotif.com
Wotif.com is another handy resource we use for specialty hotel bookings here in Australia. Wotif is a good source for last-minute deals on lodging.
